One million Londoners live in an area of the city where air pollution is higher than is safe. Poor air quality kills one thousand Londoners a year.

Earlier this week, Ken Livingstone launched the largest Low Emission Zone in Europe to start cleaning up London’s air. Lorries, coaches and buses that don’t meet strict emission standards will now face a daily charge to drive within the city.
